How it works

Each HBCU drafts a team of social entrepreneurs made up of students and faculty from across schools or departments (STEAM included).

Teams must have a minimum of two members. Community participants can affiliate with a with a school or be unaffiliated, although cash prizes are only available for HBCU students, any association with an HBCU provides eligibility in the hackathon.
After team formation, the team will select from one of the social challenges: improving health outcomes, education and community violence.
Each team is required to complete and application and submit a maximum 2-min video of the solution that will be hacked during hackathon weekend.
Five teams will be selected to attend the hackathon. Participants may only be on one team or submission.
Each member of the selected teams will receive $200 for their participation during the hackathon weekend and pitch event.
